About Us

Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) is established in November 2000 and registered with Kano State Government on the 10th of June 2001 and incorporated with Corporate Affairs Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 10th of June 2003( RC : 15,356) . Its headquarters is based in Kano State and aims to promote Sexual/ Reproductive Health and Child Survival Strategy in Nigeria.

It started with two staff; and over the years has expanded to 14 member staff under its pay roll. It received its first programmatic funding from World Bank, Nigeria’s office under its Small Grant Programme to the tune of N 400,000 ($ 3200) in July 2002 for a project on addressing the needs of HIV/AIDS Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Kano.

Currently, CHR funding has increased tremendously as it is receiving programmatic funding from Partnership for Transforming Health Systems a DFID project, COMPASS/USAID, MacArthur Foundation, African Population and Health Research Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.
